Fedder Family History
 Wally Kern

This history pertains to the parental family of my wife, Ann Kern, nee Fedder. The history will be enlarged as time permits.  Two Fedder brothers came from Münchenhof, Germany to Collinsville, Illinois in the middle 1800s. Earlier the Fedder family lived in Badenhausen, Germany. Ann’s branch for some reason moved across the Mississippi River to St. Louis.  Latter they moved a little farther west to St. Louis County.  The Fedder family has been fairly well researched in America and still is actively being researched by a Fedder in Germany with whom I am in contact.

The earliest Fedder that can be found is a Claus Fedder born in about 1520.  It is likely that he was married in Badenhausen, Germany.  The name is also thought to be spelled as Vedder, Vetter, and Fedderen.

The Fedders occasionally had reunions in the Collinsville, Illinois area.  After a hiatus of over 20 years, a reunion was held again on September 5, 2010.  A picture of the attendees was taken and shown on the right.
