New Web Look -
The web site has been substantially redesigned. In a sense we outgrew it especially in the Genealogical Section. My son, Michael, graciously redesigned the whole site. This is in addition to the responsibilities of his two jobs as minister and family. I am greatly indebted to him. It will allow the growth of the site more easily and much easier navigation.

Noah’s Baptism
Noah was baptized by his father, Michael Kern, on January 10, 2009. A PDF file of a photo album of the baptism can be downloaded that is approximately 5.14 MB. Click here to download the Photo Album. Katherine and I braved the Nebraska snow to attend.
December 2009
This past year has been another eventful year. Probably the biggest event this year is that we became grandparents for the first time. Hope that all of our friends and relatives are in good spirits and health, and that they have had a wonderful year.
Katherine is still studying accounting at the University of Missouri in St. Louis. She expects to complete her coursework next spring and then will be able to take the CPA examine. She got a scholarship from the university for this school year’s work. Katherine has a cat called “Bear” that endlessly entertains her and does mischievous escapades. Katherine and Wally traveled several times to see Michael, Alison, and Noah in Nebraska.
Michael continues his pastorates at two churches in Albion. On October 21 he and
Alison had a little boy, Noah. They were so happy to have his birth in the same
month (within five and eight days) as their birthdays. He is already getting spoiled
with so much equipment and stuff to take care of him. Of course he is also being
held and pampered a lot. The baptism is scheduled for January 10th at which time
both Katherine and Wally will attend. Michael has set up a website for their family
including pictures of Noah at: http://mikeandalison.kernfamily.name/. They plan
on coming to St. Louis during the week after Christmas to introduce Noah to Ann,
friends, and rest of the relatives in St. Louis. One of Michael’s activities is
to teach the combined confirmation class of his two churches. This includes going
to weekend retreats near Seward. Both churches present a challenge to introduce
new things.
Ann is still doing well at the Surrey Nursing Home. There has been little change in the last year. Bodily she is great but mentally she appears to be gone. It is rare for Ann to acknowledge the presence of anyone. Ann still spends her time in a high backed wheelchair and appears to be quite comfortable in it.
Wally is enjoying his new website that Michael set up for him as a Christmas present last Christmas. It is at: http://wally.kernfamily.name/. It has a section for “Genealogy” where he spent much of winter writing about the “Kern” family. Wally completed taking three semesters of college German in the spring. Wally also did his share of traveling again to places in Arizona, Wisconsin, New York, Michigan, and Branson, Missouri. He already is planning a trip again to Germany next September with his sister, Charlotte. We will visit our “Heimat” Roßtal and other areas in Middle Franconia.
